Consider/Approve Paper Bid for the 2010 – 2011 School Year

Background Information:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Howard D. Happy Co., Caldwell’s Office Outfitters, Lanzer’s Office Supply, RIS Paper Company, Inc., Office Services, and Learning House for the purchase of duplicating paper (14,130 reams), which will be budgeted in the General Purpose School Fund for the 2010 – 2011 fiscal year. We received bids for this purchase as follows: Howard D. Happy Co. – $46,417.05; Lanzer’s Office Supply – $40,765.05; Caldwell’s Office Outfitters – $41,683.50; and RIS Paper Company, Inc. – $38,320.56. RIS Paper Company of Uniontown, OH once again submitted the low bid.

Staff Recommendation:

In accordance with Board Policy #2.806, which provides that “the lowest and best bid shall be accepted, I recommend approval of the bid submitted by RIS Paper Company for $38,320.56. With this approval, it is the intent of the Board and management that no liability will be incurred, nor a purchase order issued, until the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2010.
